”I was taken. And then… I killed the Master.”
Riza cocked her head to the side and pursed her lips, thinking. She was silent for a few moments before she spoke again, her musical voice calm and curious, “So that band under your scarf…It was a slave collar then?” The girl studied him without expression for a time. “You must have been taken young to be such a powerful fighter. If you don’t mind me asking, just how old are you?”
With that question, her attention was momentarily pulled from one Mammalian to the next. Cadrian seemed to be utterly shocked by the statement and his hand had lifted to his own collar. The fact that none of them had families didn’t seem too important anymore, now all attention seemed to be on the daemon boy. Even Chess seemed to sense the mood, flower and attention now forgotten as he watched Rio with huge yellow eyes. His interest faded quickly though, this was simply the struggles of the humanoid races, it had little to do with him. The Cait Sith settled down at Riza’s hip and seemed to fall into a peaceful slumber.
Though Rio was likely to be unaffected or at least confused by the Fae’s actions, it did worry Riza. She leaned forward and tentatively placed her hand on his shoulder, giving it a light shake. “Cade? Are you alright?”

“So that band under your scarf…It was a slave collar then?”
Rio looked at Riza calmly. "Yes." He replied simply. He caught Riza's gaze that looked as if it was scrutinizing him closely the way many had as they challenged him to a battle. This girl, however, looked incapable of such battles that he fought, leading the mammalian daemon to quieten down and take her gaze calmly.
“You must have been taken young to be such a powerful fighter. If you don’t mind me asking, just how old are you?” Taken... young. From the memories that he had gained since he had killed Master, it must have been the case that he was taken since young. How many years was it that he had been taken? He did not know. Counting the moons, however, Rio realized with a start that he had just turned 16. "I have recently passed my 16th year," He told her. Following Riza's gaze, he caught sight of Cadrian once again. The fae was staring at him dubiously, eyes fixed upon his stature. Sieg in his lap had made no indication to show that he cared about the changeling's gaze. He could yell his head off for all he wanted and Sieg couldn't have cared less.
The fae was staring at him... the expression on his face was rather confusing. Rio did not understand it, but before he knew it, something had risen in him. "Remember your place, you bastard! Remember who your gaze fall upon! Just how worthy is it that someone like you should be able to stare like this?" The voice rang through his head. At this, Sieg raised his head, startled. It was definitely not Rio's voice that spoke this. As he scrutinized the daemon's face, he could see the one eye that was usually covered by his shock of hair had been cleared out and now a bright scarlet stared out of it. His face was contorted into a snarl that was not his own, however, Sieg was unsure to what this was. Being only one of the kits, he had not yet been to the Dreamlands and therefore had no knowledge about this. A moment later, the powerful voice died away, letting the smooth strands of hair fall, covering a blue eye. This was definitely not normal. Rio's right eye color was blue, albeit in that short fit, it had turned red. As his hair covered his sightless eye, a breath escaped him and a sudden fatigue overcame him. One moment he saw Cadrian staring at him, then a complete blank and sudden fatigue. To him there was nothing unnormal, but even Sieg could tell that something was plaguing the daemon boy's mind.

"It was a slave collar then?"
Ah, so that was why the daemon mammalian wore that scarf - to hide the collar that was apparently under it. So they were more alike than they seemed. Both mammalian with some sort of cat influences and both from some sort of slave-like situation. The only difference between them was their race and their attitudes; Cadrian had turned into a playful, thieving creature who didn't trust anyone while Rio seemed to be a mostly emotionless killing machine.
Suddenly, someone was touching him. The boy jumped just slightly, probably not even noticable by Rio and only by Riza because she was the one in contact with him. Amber eyes blinked then flicked to her, staring at her in confusion before her question processed and he shook his head to clear his thoughts. A grin formed on his lips, perfect enough that they wouldn't be able to tell it was forced - not without knowing him well, at least. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. I guess I kinda spaced out there a little huh? Guess I need some sleep!" He lifted a hand and scratched at the back of his head, satisfying a sudden itch.
Amber eyes then flicked back to the daemon. The daemon who was suddenly snarling at him. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, and the lynx part of him went on high alert. Without thinking about it, his lips curled back over his teeth, exposing them, and a quiet hiss rumbled out of his throat. It was almost like a challenge. However, a second later, the rational part of his brain kicked in - if he fought Rio, he would die. There was no doubt in the changeling's mind that that is exactly what would happen. So he quickly calmed down, just as it seemed Rio did. Cade sucked in a deep breath and vaguely wondered if Riza had seen the exchange, though it was only a quick thing because then something else occured to him.
Had his eye been red?
Cadrian blinked and shook his head, trying to remember. Perhaps it was just a play on his eyes; maybe he did need sleep after all. "Ahh... I think my eyes are playing tricks on me."
