Echo caught Tondra's eyes patiently, taking the time to dissect them--figuratively, not literally, of course. It seemed like she didn't mind his company. Good. At least he had something to argue with if Hara didn't want him along. As if she wanted to keep Hara away from him, She grabbed the wind daemon with her good hand, stating the obvious; no time. She then started to run, talons giving her extra grip beneath the blue fabric, pulling Hara along. Catching her drift, Echo immediately started after the two females. Although his child-like frame was rather short, he had no real problem keeping up with them. Unlike humans, daemons like him had a better stamina and less weight. Wait... did that mean humans were fat? They did eat a lot whereas he didn't need substantial food.
He kept his knowledge to himself, not knowing much about the city anyways. Hara seemed to be the guide here and he was trusting her senses in effort to conserve energy. For what? He himself wasn't sure. It was just a habit, using the least amount of energy. Wind swirled around him as they ran, letting him catch random drifts of voices. All human in this part of the city except for them.
All of a sudden, Echo skidded to a halt. He hadn't been watching or paying attention to where they were going and Hara had led them to a dead end. That could be a little problematic. If the humans found out where they were before they had a chance to escape... "Now what...?" Echo murmured, almost to himself as he tried to gauge their chances of survival. They certainly weren't very high, but better low chance than no chance.

Suddenly, time began to slow. Shouts and chaos became muffled noises of outrage before fading into silence. Only the wind dared to stir. Life, death, everything froze. Everything except for the small wind elemental. He was spared the strange curse. Seree, goddess of fate, had something to say.
The goddess stepped away from the shadows, silent as a cat. Her red locks fell around her in shining waves as her emerald eyes breathed living fire. She was Fate and possessed the surreal beauty of a goddess. And that night, she chose to present herself to a daemon. A creature that came from an entirely different world.
“I see a future for you, Aeolus Vesper,” she purred. The goddess stepped forward and breathed golden mist on the daemon boy. “You are a drifter, a watcher, and a wallflower. Secluded and at home within yourself. But soon you will learn what a real home feels like. Within you lies a rare gift. Call upon it and you will find yourself somewhere safe. Call upon the Earth Mother, Echo, and you and all those connected to you by touch will find this safe place. However, if any of those people wishes you harm, they will be left behind.
“This haven will look however you wish it to look. It will have all the basic comforts needed for your survival. And when you wish to return, simply thank the Earth Mother and say farewell. No matter what mask your haven wears, there will always be some sort of window where you can look back at the place you came from and see what is going on. In this way, you may see when it is safe to return.
“But be warned, Echo. This ability may not be activated for an entire month after you use it. Use it when you need somewhere safe. Use it when you need a home to return to. Good luck, dear boy. I wish you well.” The goddess kissed the top of the daemon’s head and then vanished from sight. The noises return to their normal pitch and the world began to move once more.
ooc:: Place the ability Earth Mother on your character sheet. Label it as a gift from Fate and mark whether it is ready to activate or if it is recharging. Also include the date of its last use.

All of a sudden, everything went still. It was as if he was loosing consciousness, but Echo knew that he was wide awake. He looked around, rather surprised, as he realized that he seemed to be the only one experiencing this. Who was causing this, what was happening? Was it some powerful magician that had tracked them down and decided to spare him...? Not possible.
Suddenly, Echo whipped around. The wind had whispered of a surreal presence taking the form of a woman with unnatural beauty above any mortal, human, daemon or any other race. Even her aura suggested that she was something that he had never seen before.
And she knew his name. His name, Aeolus Vesper, was something that he had never spoken to another in his travels, yet she knew it she knew him, yet he had never met her before. Such a powerful presence could be sensed from afar, but he had never sensed it. His eyes widened at the mention of a gift. A gift called "Earth Mother". His common sense told him that it wasn't possible; he was a wind elemental and didn't have any affinity to that of the earth, yet somehow he knew that the woman was right. This mention of a sanctuary was too good to be true. Like that, he could get them out of this tight spot, but before his hopes could soar any higher, they were dashed by the warning of the regenerating time. A whole month! He would really have to use this carefully.
He immediately dismissed this thought; why should he abuse this new gift? He had survived well enough on his own, so it shouldn't be too difficult to ensure his survival. He kept his golden gaze on the woman as she came forwards--by means unknown to him to brush her lips against his forehead. Normally he would have resisted, but now he didn't know what had gotten into him. Merely moments later, she disappeared, leaving him once again at the mercy of Litharia.
At once, he looked at Hara, eyes wide with amazement as truth dawned upon him. Getting a bit closer to Hara, he tugged at her shirt lightly. "They exist!" He told her in a soft voice, mimicking the one of the woman that had spoken to him. He had never believed in the existence of these beings, but he knew the truth now.

Echo's staring unnerved Tondra, but she smiled at him anyhow. He was adorable, in an innocent way, and she felt as if this creature could never make her angry, kind of like a small kitten. She had stopped paying attention to where they were headed, and skidded to a quick stop as Hara released her hand. Ahead of them was a dead end...a dead end? But they had made it so far! This simply wasn't fair; everything seemed to be against their favor tonight.
Tondra faintly heard the little daemon whisper something entirely vague to Hara, and looked over at him. "What are you talking about? Unless it can help us escape this mess, it's irrelevant; we need to come up with a plan, soon." She heard shouts behind them. "Very soon." She didn't mean to be impolite, but this was not the time for petty etiquette. "Do you think the three of us could fight them? I mean, I'm sure we could do some damage, but there are just so many..." Humans were as lusty and procreatory as rabbits. Tondra had never seen so many lifeforms in one place before she came to this city.

A curse flew from Hara’s mouth. She was sure this was the right way…
The daemon’s mind went into overdrive as she tried to figure out every possibility. The kid’s voice broke into her thoughts and she looked down at him. Strange kid. Tondra broke in next. Hara’s eyes locked onto her. Fight? She almost laughed. “We cannot fight them,” she said, “A few drunks is one thing, but they will be rallying the whole city. The guard will be called. And they will aim to kill. Fae are not allowed here.”
Realizing the effect her words of doom may have on the naïve changeling, Hara instantly felt guilty. She forced a brave smile onto her face. “But do not worry. We will figure out a way to get free from this mess.” Hara pulled them deeper into the dead alley and began searching for a way to escape. The wind brought her foreboding messages. The human were closing in. Within minutes, they would be swarmed.
“We need a sewage entrance or a door, a window, or a ladder onto the rooftops,” she murmured, half to herself. Yes! A window. Hara ran towards the wooden shutters and slammed into them, causing them to give way. She did not know where the window led, but anywhere was better than where they were.

Echo's eyes shone with excitement, although he was perfectly aware that this was not the situation to be ecstatic, especially since their lives were at stake. At least Hara was there to handle it; he himself was useless at plans; for he wouldn't even be in this situation. If he was... he'd get himself out, but now wasn't the time to go ditching people, so he had better stick close to them--just in case. His just recently acquired ability might help them, but he was rather defensive of the fact that he couldn't use it for another month.
Echo let the two females talk; he would do the following. Hara was saying something about them having no chance if they chose to fight. With the information that the wind was providing him, he agreed with her. He would not like to go to wherever the humans brought their--oh wait, they'd be killed. Makes sense. Even more reason to dread it. Stupid humans. Always making life difficult for others by dominating everywhere.
Echo followed Hara obediently as she led them further in. Surely there was some hidden place in here that they could escape to. Leaving him and Tondra for a little moment, Hara headed to a pair of wooden shutters and destroyed them; leading them into some house. It was better than the streets and humans had bad night vision anyways. It was their best bet, so he accepted it. He ran up to Hara, looking through the window, but too quickly to see much. "Shall I go first?" He asked her, wondering if the window was safe. It seemed rather musty and unkempt, but who knew what could be lurking within.
