Cloti was on fire. Rodi raised an amused eyebrow and looked at her. They were good questions, all of them. Essential, really. And they erupted from her mouth all at once so that Winter would have to scramble to remember them all. If Winter was a new recruit, he never would have succeeded. But he was not. Winter would surely be used to these sorts of questions, even if he was not a spy. They were familiar questions. So rather than slowing his partner down, he let her get it all out. Then his gaze settled on Winter, hoping for some good news.
Only that news never came. Winter had not been able to glean much from his mission. That was unfortunate, but Rodi could not fault him for it. Winter was no spy and had not been trained in undercover work. The news he did bring home was equal parts encouraging and equal parts discouraging. One hundred new recruits just from visiting one town? His army was growing quickly. The song was outnumbered. But they were not outmatched. From what Winter said, Than was far less picky about his followers the they were. Than’s followers would not possess the intelligence, discipline, and organization than the Song did.
Rodi’s gaze narrowed dangerously when Winter mentioned he was captured. If Than had injured Winter, then death would be merciful compared to what Rodi would do to him. The battle muse was fiercely protective over those he loved. Winter was like a brother to him. Rodi may be his superior in terms of the Song, but he looked to Winter as one would an older brother.
"So naturally, I got free and tried to blow him up with a bottle of booze."
A small half-smile formed on Rodi’s face. Winter’s blasé attitude had that effect on him.
Rodi made a mental note about Auspice. They’d make sure to get the message out to the rest of their order as well. For now, they had bigger things to plan. “Do you know where he is going next?” Rodi wanted to send in some of Cloti’s spies to infiltrate their ranks. Updated inside information would be invaluable. However they planned their attack, it would have to be subtle and creative. An all out offensive would not work against the larger group of cutthroats and rebels. Not unless they had the fae on their side, but the council took too long to make decisions like that.

Winter nodded, "He was on his way to Spirit. He's probably there by now." The mission went as well as could been hoped for, which was to say, not that well. But Winter was a warrior and a strategist, in the time allotted he had gained as much information as possible.
Suddenly a thought occured to him. The daemon woman he had been speaking to. "I know of a woman who could give us more details than any, save Than himself. Her name is Hara Small Fire, she looked to be a wind elemental." Winter smiled, "She served a debt to him, presumably for saving her life, which he seemed to release her from." He chuckled, thinking of the rage in her eyes when Than had ordered her around. "Not to mention she hates his guts and would love nothing more than to kill him."
The changeling scooted up in his chair to sit straight. He looked to each of his leaders with a feral smile, "I believe if we could find this woman we would gain a fine advantage. Not to mention she would be a welcome recruit if she was convinced."

Oh no. She felt that thrill coming on her again. This time it was small, but no less commanding. Winter didn't know much and he had good contacts. She was human, the leader was fae. The majority of humans hated the fae race. She didn't hate the fae, but she could act that part. Her mind was clicking. What better plan than to go see everything firsthand, get the information first hand, get it all so that she could use it, no glitches or anything. Yes, that'd be good.
From what Winter said, they recruited anyone who wanted to join, no matter what their skill, from what she heard. Her skill wasn't the best, but it was acceptable. She was skilled with her twin blades and more agile than blundering men. She was somewhat of a strategist and could help with the night elf's Order. She couldn't help but let a slightly insane grin escape. That was a good plan, a good plan in her eyes, but she knew that Rodi probably wouldn't let her go. What did it matter, she wanted to go.
"The Spirit... Hara Small Fire..." Cloti started pacing around. Yes... that was good... she could manage it if she had a partner. She needed a partner to be able to pull this off. Being the ambitious person she was, she might have been able to get up into the higher levels of the organization, perhaps be an adviser to the night elf. The plan was taking shape in her head, making adrenaline surge through her veins. Suddenly, she stopped pacing and turned around, facing Rodi and Winter with determination in her eyes.
"I'm going." She announced. "I'm going to infiltrate the ranks personally. From what I hear, this night elf Than will definitely need good advise on attack and defense with more or less useless people. They have numbers, but no skill." She stared them down, as if daring them to oppose her determination. She knew that she was putting herself into immense danger here if someone was to figure out her true identity.

"Neh, Cloti, that's probably not the best idea..." The voice, which came from a few feet behind the human woman, was innocent sounding but couldn't have originated from someone young enough to be considered a child - while it wasn't particularly deep, there was enough baritone in it to be recognized as a teenage boy's voice.
Jaime trotted toward the three of them, the hood of his dark cloak bouncing as he ran and threatening to fall back. He halted next to the woman, tossing his head back and letting the hood slip to his shoulders, exposing his unruly blonde hair. He turned toward Cloti and smiled. "Well, at least not without someone's help. Someone who can keep you alive if something bad happened."
A healer perhaps?
After all, if Cloti was set on doing this, Jaime had to follow her. Since he had joined the Song, he had stayed close to the human woman, learning from her what she could until he was considered good enough to do things on his own. The boy didn't mind. He liked Cloti. She was interesting and he enjoyed her company. Of course, Jaime enjoyed most people's company.
Brown eyes flicked to Winter and Rodi, silently asking if they agreed with him. The question was silent for one reason, and one reason only - Rodi intimidated him. The boy had not had much of a chance to speak to the fae leader, but he had only heard good things about him. So why was Jaime so intimidated by him? Perhaps it was his demeanor, or the fact that he had a slightly scary appearance (who wouldn't be at least mildly fearful of someone with red hair and eyes?). It also might have been that he had heard the Rodi was a bit of a perfectionist. Jaime didn't like to disappoint people and perfectionists tended to be hard to please. That was probably more likely.
Suddenly, a thought popped into his head. "Oh! And the fae made it safely home, so no worries about that," Jaime reported, nodding happily. For now, he was only sent on small tasks, such as silently following those they rescued and making sure they made it home safely. He had only just returned from that. Jaime wasn't as used to the forest as the other three, specifically Rodi and Winter considering they were fae, and so he had to take it slow and follow the landmarks he had been told to follow to make sure he didn't get lost.
He doubted the fae would recognize him as a friendly member of the Song of Heroes if they caught him alone in their forest. Actually, hardly anyone knew about his existence in the Song, considering he hadn't done much in it yet. But, that was to be expected. Jaime didn't mind doing the small, menial tasks anyways.

"Neh, Cloti, that's probably not the best idea..."
Cloti whirled around at the sound of the young male voice. She hadn't quite gotten used to it, but she remembered at the slight figure. He was the newest recruit of the Song, her charge and healer in a way, her apprentice in more and adviser as the most. It appeared that Jaime Keating had returned from the task assigned to him; ensuring the safety of the fae. From the way that he hadn't run in breathless, she assumed that the boy was safe. She frowned as she didn't seem to even get the approval of her apprentice.
"Well, at least not without someone's help. Someone who can keep you alive if something bad happened."
Cloti's expression changed to a grin, the expression from before. Ok, that was a good idea and a good assessment as well. She had earned his support, so if Winter and Rodi objected, it was a democratic tie. And they could do nothing about it. That certainly made her happy. Jaime was willing to go with her; whether for loyalty reasons or mere interest, she didn't know or care; all that she wanted to do was go. She had made up her mind and so far no one had given any objection. She was going to go. How would she track Than down? Did anyone know his exact location? How should she play her part? So many questions and she would get all of her answers for sure.

Spirit. Rodi nodded, making a mental note of that. He wondered if that was where their base would be, considering that was the place Than kept returning to. It was worth finding out. But Rodi was more interested in the daemon Winter mentioned. It was too bad she was released. Were she still with Than’s army, she would have been a useful ally. Tracking her down could prove difficult.
There was a pause as everyone seemed to be thinking. It did not last long. Cloti’s words pierced through Rodi like an arrow. He froze, carefully trying to weigh the intelligence and logic of her plan with his feelings for her. No. It was crazy. Suicide. If they found out…
What was she thinking? Rodi could never let Cloti risk herself like that. She was important! If they lost her it would be terrible! Anger and frustration boiled up within him. He did not even notice Jaime’s arrival. Not until…
"Well, at least not without someone's help. Someone who can keep you alive if something bad happened."
Rodi froze. His skin was bursting at the seams with anger and worry. Slowly, the battle muse turned toward the new recruit. He was glowering. “Oh? And just who do you suppose we send?” He kept his words remarkably calm, but there was no doubting the danger that accompanied them. “Who is going to keep her safe from an entire army if her identity is somehow compromised?”
Reflexively, Rodi’s hand slithered down to the hilt of his dagger. Not that he would gut their new recruit. Rodi was temperamental, but he was not insane. His weapons simply helped to calm him down. At that moment, stabbing something sounded like a fantastic idea. He turned to Cloti. “I do not approve of this plan. Send one of the others.”

Oh gods... Rodi was glaring at him. Jaime stared back at him, obviously a little freaked out by the glowering he was receiving, but also obviously not going to look away or step back because of it. The boy didn't get glared at very often, so when it did happen, he was pretty unhappy about it. Damn his insistent need to please people...
Jaime opened his mouth to reply but paused when he caught sight of the battle muse laying his hand on his blade. He exhaled the breath he had taken to speak from his nose, momentarily thinking better about replying. But, Rodi had asked him. It would be rude to not reply, wouldn't it?
"If you were to go with her, both leaders would be away. Winter's an excellent second, of course, and I'm sure he'd do fine as the temorary leader, but that's risking both leaders lives at the same time. You could send Winter with her, but he's not a spy. Undercover work isn't his forte. And, maybe someone else would be better suited for the job, yes, but I'm not going to learn anything if I don't go out and experience it. Cloti can take very good care of herself if something were to happen."
And, he didn't say it out loud, but Jaime could be a very good distraction. His abilities made it so he didn't physically exhaust himself, which theoretically meant the boy could run forever. He could lead them away from Cloti if the need rose up. However, Jaime wasn't the type to argue with his leaders' judgment; he was only a new recruit, so he doubted his opinion really mattered when it came to actions like this. He was okay with that, really.

Cloti glared at Rodi. Wow. He was very supportive of that idea. Not that she wasn't expecting it. His expression was meaner by the second, ready to poison any that dared to stand against him, strike them down, kill them, make sure that they weren't in his way. Wait, she was ranting again.
But the point was that Rodi completely objected to the idea. She could taste Rodi's disapproval as he spoke to Jaime, the tone of his voice was calm, but she knew him long enough to know that there was a kind of veiled threat behind them, daring Jaime to make some kind of move that could blow him off his logic and turn him loose. Not something Cloti wanted to happen, but she wanted to go. Desperately. And she wasn't going to let Rodi stop her. If only he'd see the logic of the plan...!
One thing for sure, he didn't understand the importance of her tagging along with Than's army. She was the leader of the communications and informations branch after all. Also, Cloti did not think that Reikuani wanted to take her any time soon and she had more power than he thought. After all, she was the most wanted criminal in human history, not some bastard that tried to blow up the City--although it would have been a nice idea.
But Cloti prided herself in her ability to judge the opinions of others and that was exactly what she planned on doing; judging Ro-never mind. No need to judge. That was absurd. "Rodi! You're overestimating them!" She complained, pulling a face. "Those people that Than has recruited probably don't know shit! And if they do have a clue of who I am, they'll want me alive because cheapskates like them want money, money that the human government has agreed to pay for members of the Song," She gestured at Jaime, "And especially me! The leader of the Song!" She pointed to herself, brows furrowed in determination.
Glancing at Jaime, she could see how intimidated he was. Feeling a little pity, she let her expression soften a little. She still felt a slight loyalty to him for being his mentor. Cloti moved in front of him, she could see that Rodi's hand was on the dagger hilt and she had a better chance of deflecting an oncoming swing than Jaime did. The fact that she was in front of Jaime also meant that she was face to face with Rodi, exactly what she wanted; eye contact. "Jaime's a healer. If anything happens to me, he can put it right. Winter can't go, he'll blow our cover. Who knows what information the world has on us?! Jaime's a new recruit, they can't know about him yet, which is what we need!" She crossed her arms, glaring at Rodi defiantly. Yes, she could be stubborn when the time called for it. She absolutely had to make Rodi see the logic!

Winter looked at his two leaders with thinly veiled impatience. “Calm down, you’re both missing the point. We need to use logic here, not passion.” He told them with a sigh. “Rodi can’t go because Than knows who he is, that much he made clear, I can’t go because he knows I work for Rodi, and Cloti can’t go because her face is on every building corner from here to the capital!”
His voice rose from a calm tone to a frustrated growl. Winter hated to be side-lined, especially by scum like Than. But at this point, letting anyone important to the Song attempt to infiltrate the other group was too big a risk. They would be found out and Than would hurt them, it was as simple as that.
Winter took a deep breath and rubbed at his eyes with one hand. If he was going to argue, he would have to stay calm, no matter how much he hated the idea. Cloti would have been the best bet, but considering her infamy, that plan could prove fatal or costly. And though nobody seemed to notice, Rodi cared for his partner far more than he let on.
If Cloti was discovered, then Rodi would do whatever it took to get her back, and in all honesty, Winter would help. The changeling narrowed his eyes at the realization that he was probably far too loyal to his friends and cause for his own good. That was both an asset and a fault.
“Cloti I’m sure you’re right, his men don’t have a clue, but Than himself is dangerous. As crazy as they come, but he’s a focused madman. He will stop at nothing and has enough brainpower to get fools to do his bidding. Their numbers grow quickly and even idiots can win with a skilled tactician at the lead.” Winter grimaced, “I don’t know just how skilled he is, but I know for a fact that he’s capable of horrible things. Violence holds no meaning and life is an expendable resource.”
Winter’s voice fell flat, though his eyes smoldered with anger. “Cloti, I wish your plan could work, I really do, but if we’re using a mole, it cannot be you.”
