Name: Calandra de Aquila Salente
Nickname(s): Cal, Cala, Cala'cal
Age: 369
Date of Birth: April 1
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Blood: Pure Avian Daemon (Steppe Eagle)
Abilities: Accipitridae Speech
Loyalty: Daemon lord
Status/Occupation: Second in command to Gabriel
Appearance: Long dark-gold hair that reaches her waist and is intertwined with the feather of the bird she takes after, a steppe eagle, fair skin. Wings are a dusky gold, can look gray in some light. Full lips, long lashes, big gleaming amber-gold eyes, a heart-shaped face, and a slim, graceful figure with wiry muscles. Looks entirely human save her claws (hidden by steel gauntlets), gleaming eyes, slightly protruding fangs, wings, and unnatural beauty. She has the appearance of a young girl and it is somewhat difficult to tell she is a daemon if she chooses to hide her wings.
Wears a deep blue tunic, tattered red sash tied around her waist that falls to her ankles, and the finest daemon armor designs in the likeness of detailed wings. Carries a long rapier hanging from a string around her waist with a hilt styled into a pair of folded wings and a golden winged sheath to match. Only jewelry is a pair of large gold hoop earrings.
Personality:
Has a very prominent ambition and sees nothing wrong with that. She loves to fight more than most anything and practices daily. Her demeanor is very calm, but her sadistic streak, sarcasm, passion for any challenge, and love for tricks are very well-known. Despite this she is very fair, if not somewhat harsh, in all that she does.
She is easy-going if you can get to know her and is a realist, looking down on the optimists and dreamers who do nothing to accomplish their dreams.
Has a strange fascination with the Fae and Shifters, and has no opinions on the humans. Has a weakness for flowers, especially from the Forest of the Fae and her favorite thing to do is perch in tall trees.
Values pride, honesty, and strength above anything else.
History: Born in what could only be the slums of Dream Land, Calandra had a rather average life to begin with. Her parents possessed no ambition, one being a tailor and the other a drifter. Cal could not stand either. She aspired to become a powerful figure in Dream Land and was willing to get her hands dirty to do so.
Though this was the dream of many a young daemon in her home, Cala beat the rest by actually pursuing it. She apprenticed herself to any and all sword-masters that she found, proving that she did, in fact, have potential. Cala trained for 230 years, mastering all styles of fighting she could, whether they be Human, Daemon, Shifter, or Fae.
At the age of 259 she became second in command to the Daemon Lord Gabriel, an old friend, and was able to to become the companion of a will-o'-the-wisp. The will-o'-the-wisp, who named itself Loki, often wanders on it's own for long periods of time and then pops up randomly. It is unknown how he always finds her.
Roleplay Sample:
Calandra's fingers curled comfortably around the hilt as she drew her sword from it's sheath. It's familiar ring greeted her ears even as she held the rapier at ready. Her opponent, a young Earth Elemental, seemed to tremble visibly as he took up his weapon of choice, an overlarge battle-Axe.
Cal's full lips curved into a mocking smile as she held out one gloved hand and beckoned to the young man with one finger. He came at her at full speed, swinging his weapon toward her head.
He blinked as the blade swung and there was no impact. Panic seized him as he swirled around to find Calandra behind him with a sadistic, mocking expression.
She flicked the huge Axe out of his hands with casual ease. The man dropped onto his knees looking close to tears. "The battle is third blood correct?" Calandra purred as she rested her sword lazily on her shoulder. He nodded fearfully, clenching his eyes shut.
She grinned again, full of malice, "I'm feeling nice today." He was slashed deeply three times, once on each cheek, and a deep on through his stomach.
"But, but I thought you said....?" he gasped as he lay on his back, laboring for each breath.
"I did. I missed all internal organs and it was a clean blow. You will live." Cal sneered as she wiped her blade on his clothes. The daemon sheathed her sword and stalked off, waving a hand for the medic to take him away.
Still there was no challenge, no competition. It seemed that all who were talented enough to fight her would not. The only ones who would fight her and could still win, or at least stand a chance, were Gabriel and the strongest fighter. At least that she knew of.
Calandra prowled away from the battleground in a foul mood. She reached her room shortly after, still thinking. Then a wonderful idea occurred to her. What if she left Dream Land and went to explore the outside world? That would be sure to dispel the monotony that plagued her life. Cal made plans to leave immediately, obtaining food, water, and any extra supplies she would need. And then, she just left.
There had to be a reason Gabriel was so infatuated with the outside world, and now Cal would find out why.
