The daemoness directed her attention towards Cadrian after thinking for a moment. “I believe they usually grow in especially dark places near running water, but where you could find that I am unsure.” Calandra then smiled over at Lael, her laughing grin seeming to prove the girl’s point. “It’s true, smiling, especially when you’re daemon and have long teeth, is quite frightening for contracts and the like.” She wondered why the daemon boy wouldn’t just say he was a mercenary. It was quite obviously enough to anyone not as clueless as Lael that he was an assassin, but since that was sure to frighten the timid girl, making up something not far from the truth would have been far easier.
Calandra was just about to mention what he probably was when a familiar voice came from behind her. The daemoness glanced around until her sights landed on Rio, the recently appointed strongest daemon. “Well if it isn’t my newest comrade,” she said with an easy smile. “Litharia seems to be a small world, huh?” Calandra’s eye fell on the golden cat behind him, causing her to raise an eyebrow. “So, you managed to pick yourself up a Bastaet? No surprise a dangerous kid like you would end up with one. Just keep an eye out for Loki, they tend not to like him. At all.”
The lieutenant chuckled. Such friendliness was rather uncharacteristic, but yet again, nobody was trying to kill her, she had just eaten food, and she was surrounded by interesting people. It put her in a good mood. All that was missing was the alcohol.

“It’s true, smiling, especially when you’re daemon and have long teeth, is quite frightening for contracts and the like.”
Jean let out a cough, covering his flushing face. "You don't understand... Not frightening..." His sharp violet eyes searching desperately for something besides the Avian Daemon's face. "My comrade, may his soul rest silent, told me never to smile... because." He sighed, eyes resting finally on the avian. "He said my smile was... C-cute. Not nearly intimidating enough." He frowned, fingering his shoulder-spikes nervously.
This was an uncomfortable conversation. Very uncomfortable. He did not like it, at all. The Daemon wasn't used to speaking of himself, or really speaking at all, because he found his voice a hindrance to his contracts. Jean offered an embarrassed frown. He had seven more days to complete his contract. for some reason he couldn't remember the name of his next victim. Perhaps it started with an A... Maybe an L. He didn't remember, and there would be many mistakes involved with pulling out the papers right there to check. Ah well, such a thing mattered not in this situation. The more important thing was the reactions related to the words he had so quickly blurted out. Jean bit his lip, his fang breaking the skin instantly with its unnatural sharpness. Licking the stream of blood away, he turned his head from the group to see, emerging from the growth… A kitty? No, It couldn’t be a cat, the figure was more humanoid than mammalian. A Daemon. Jean heard Calandra say something to the stranger, addressing him to the name of “Rio”. He had a serious face, and little, fluffy ears. A charming creature, in an odd way. His slitted pupils scanned the newcomer absently. He had an odd aura about him. Rather different. Jean Looked around the forest’s dense tangles, lacking in apparent attention span. As a wanderer, he was rarely not moving, and found it odd. He was used to walking all across Litharia in search of new targets. It was just a bit strange that people just kept adding on to this small group…
