Name: Jacqueline
Nickname(s): Jack of Spades, Jack, and Jackie by those in the know.
Age: 27
Date of Birth: May 1
Sexuality: homosexual
Practice: Earth Mage
Abilities: Immunity to Poison: The character cannot be poisoned.
Loyalty: The Crown
Status/Occupation: Jack of Spades - spy. Thief.
Appearance: Short at 5'2, wiry, and built for quick movement. She doesn't really have the upper body strength for weapons.
She's got red hair that she likes to keep cut short, and brown eyes. Her skin is an olive shade.
She wears skirts, usually several layers of skirts, but avoids tops that look particularly feminine. If the job calls for it she'll wear trousers, but only when she has to.
She wears bracelets all the time, anywhere from half a dozen to two dozen.
Personality: Jack is loud, stubborn, and rather energetic. She does what she wants, and insists that others do the same. She is blatantly against killing, but allows it from her underlings.
For her own protection she'll pretend to be a spy for, or wife of Jack of Spades until she can completely trust somebody.
She is extremely fanatical about maintaining loyalty for the King, and goes out of her way to help a man she's never met.
History: Jack of Spades was born nine years ago. Jacqueline was born rather earlier than that. She knew she wasn't happy with her life at an early age, but kept up a good front. She was married at the age of fifteen, and dealt with two pregnancies before vanishing off the face of the earth, along with the children. This was at the age of eighteen.
Her husband turned up dead some time later. Her family and friends have always been under the impression that Jacqueline and the children died the same night.
They aren't.
At about the same time, a rather fanatical citizen began to send messages to the King under the name 'Jack of Spades'. With absolutely no feedback, this Jack began to do spywork for the King.
Who or what he was exactly was never really discussed in these messages. The messages continued, despite the fact that Jack really couldn't tell whether the King was reading them.
They were always accurate, though.
Jacqueline's pen name was giving her a shot at being a spy for the King, even if the King didn't know about her. It gave her a chance to recreate herself as someone else, and she liked that.
She invited Humans and Shifters to spy for her whenever they wanted, and did her own research when times were tight. For money, she typically steals what she can.
Having made the mistake of admitting to a few thefts as Jack, she got her male persona into a spot of trouble. She's not exactly sure what the King thinks about it. He could be a fugitive, he could be under the King's protection. Only time will tell.
At the moment she's living in Spirit with her children, ages nine and eleven.
Roleplay Sample:
The newest letter concerned the Song of Heroes. Jacqueline didn't actually have any information yet, but she wanted to assure the King that she'd be working on it as soon as possible. That was how she operated. She like to make sure the King knew what was going on. As usual she left no adress for a return letter. Jack of Spades wasn't the kind of guy who owned property anyways. He lived in the forest with his loyal spy network.
She checked over he spelling one last time, assumed it was legible, and sealed the envelope. She'd made her own special seal a while back, just to add to Jack's mystique. Oh, and wouldn't the King love the update? One day he'd do it. One day he'd declare Jack of Spades a Litharian Hero.
He'd ask that Jack came in and introduce himself.
Here was where the impossible dreaming started: Jacqueline would proudly walk in, children in tow, and he'd nod and say 'good job Jacqueline, you can live in the castle, and I don't mind that you're a woman you can be the head spy now, who needs these dirty old men anyways'. Then she'd get to live in the castle.
While she was dreaming, Jacqueline always included a bit where the princess realized that she was interested in women and Jacqueline was allowed to marry her. Because frankly, it was a nice dream, and expanding it was never a bad thing.
She sighed.
The truth was, Jaqueline was still stuck with two children who needed fed, and the King hadn't said much of anything about his loyal spy to the public. No matter. She'd feed them and keep going. They'd all see, wouldn't they?
