Personality: Young and passionate, Ronan has a fiery temper which sometimes gets the best of him. He hates the Fae, despises human and cannot tolerate Daemons. He is stubborn and is loyal only to himself and his beliefs, if he believes something is rightfully his he will not hesitate to take it from you. But he cannot stand bullies, the only thing worse in his mind are those that do not stand up for themselves. The biggest of his shortcomings however is pride. He will never back down from a fight, even when hopelessly outmatched, and he reacts poorly to a sleight against his personal sense of honour.
Ronan could be considered good at heart though, he has the best interests for his people and strives toward bettering their plight. If it is of no detriment to himself he will likely help out someone in need, especially if that someone is a Shape-shifter.
History: Ronan led a relatively happy childhood on Shifter Island, safe under the protective blanket of security provided by the Alpha’s. Despite being born a shifter Ronan had no parents, having been adopted by an older man he came to regard as his grandfather.
It was at the age of 14 that Ronan first travelled to the outside world and discovered for himself just how hated and ostracised his species were. He began to question why, why where they so hated and why didn’t they do anything about it? They were a powerful people, didn’t they deserve respect? Couldn’t they make the other races acknowledge them. Where was the balance, the equality in being singled out and hated?
Despite the increasing concern of those close to him Ronan became more and more rebellious over the years until finally he took it upon himself to challenge the Alpha and then lead his people into a more prominent place in society. Inevitably he was defeated.
He was banished after refusing to submit to the Alphas rule on penalty of death so he struck out on his own, resolving to start his own tribe, one that would be feared and respected as they rightfully should be.
That was three years ago and despite the harsh realities and obstacle of the world, Ronan’s commitment to his cause has not wavered at all.
Roleplay Sample: He yelped as he hit the ground, tumbling across the yard with the force of the blow before coming to stop. The young shifter tried to stand but managed only to roll onto his chest before the pain of his injuries immobilised him. He winced with every breath, certain most of his ribs had been broken. The boy looked up as the Alpha approached inexorably closer, and with barely a scratch on him; each step was measured with a dire certainty that spelled the end of the young upstart.
He cried out as a booted foot collided with his already shattered ribs, knocking him to his back. The Alpha raised his spear in a final salute to his opponent before he was to deliver the killing blow.
“Please don’t kill me I don’t wanna die!” the words slipped out before he could stop them and the rebellious young man cursed himself inwardly, now he would look a coward to the hundred onlookers watching with quiet anticipation. The Alpha paused for a moment, considering the upstart with an expression that suggested even looking upon this shifter left a foul taste in his mouth.
“Pathetic” Alpha spat the word with disgust and the young man winced visibly.
“You believe so adamantly that you can lead these people, change things for the better. Lead them to war. You believe so arrogantly that you are better than all others that you would challenge me; yet you wont even die for your beliefs.” The younger shifters eyes were caked with drying blood and dirt, just as well as he couldn’t bear to look up and meet his betters eyes. He was going to die and he knew it, there was nothing he could do.
“please..” he whispered so quietly that even the Alpha could barely hear.
“you disgust me.” he replied with a sneer, “you are not worthy of dying by my hand.” The wounded man’s relief lasted only a single moment as the Alpha continued his declaration, raising his voice so all could hear:
“I hereby banish you from this island for life, on pain of death. I strip you of your name and your family ties so that you may no longer bring shame on your Dam or Sire, instead you will take the name Ronan so all will know you are an outcast. You are no longer welcome here, you have until nightfall to leave this place by whatever means you can manage, if you are found you will be killed. Now go.” With that he turned and walked away, leaving him in the dirt as the crowd dispersed.
Staggering to his feet, the newly anointed Ronan stood dumbfounded in shock for a moment, hesitantly searching the diminishing crowd for his grandfather before he began to stumble slowly out of the courtyard. Of course he wasn’t there, his grandfather had known the outcome before Ronan had even challenged the Alpha.
The man he was before was as good as dead.
