Name: Auspice
Nickname(s): Deathpigeon, but not to his face.
Age: 116
Date of Birth: November 7
Sexuality: Straight
Breed: Avian Werebeast
Abilities:
Eyes of the Hawk: Gives much better eyesight for distances, detail, and color. Allows the user to catch the minute things they would have missed.
Light as a Feather: Doubles the user's speed and balance when in use.
Loyalty: Wherever he sees the most personal gain, lately the Humans.
Status/Occupation: Assassin or spy, but he much prefers the bloodier jobs.
Appearance:
In his human form Auspice has frizzy brown hair that he likes to keep cut to about medium length, around the bottom of the ear. His eyes are a light blueish-gray. Auspice's skin is a medium-brown color, not dark, but not light either. He stands at 5'6, and he's a little scrawny considering his diet.
He wears clothing whenever possible, due to the fact that he tries to stick with the Humans as much as possible. He owns a very nice gray cloak that's been decorated with blue-green and purple, a nice pigeonish touch. Most of his other clothes consist of whatever he's recently liked on his targets. He isn't above stealing clothes from corpses, after all.
His pigeon traits are expressed in a few subtle ways when he's in his Human shape. He has freckles, which are a lighter grayish-color. At each wrist he has a pair of stripes, resembling the stripes on pigeon wings.
In his half form Auspice has feathers mixed in with his hair, and several about his wrists, colored as they would be as a pigeon. His toes and fingers are rather long and more closely resemble pigeon toes. His skin gains a sort of ashen color, and what's left of his hair looks significantly grayer. He looses a little height, only standing at about 5'1 when using the best of posture. He can't fly in this form, but he can talk, so it's worth it.
Personality: Auspice doesn't think much of others. He rarely puts much faith in people, and avoids getting close to people. Still, he's got a laid-back attitude and never minds talking to people from a distance.
He does not like to eat in front of others, as his diet is rather restricted. He tries to avoid shifting in public as well.
History: Auspice grew up in the City of Thieves, with his loving parents and Shifter cousins. He learned to steal at an early age, and has been using it to fill in the gaps between jobs ever since. After his father came into some trouble with the law, Auspice felt that the King of Thieves didn't do enough to help his family. When his father was executed, Auspice realized that he just couldn't trust leaders. He knew he could trust himself, and he knew that the Shifters were too loyal to one another to accept his outlook. He turned to the Humans, happy to be distrusted. Eventually the inevitable betrayal occurred, and he killed a fellow Shifter for Human gold. He now works for anyone who offers enough money or trade-off to make it worth his while. He's not against backstabbing employers or killing Shifters.
Roleplay Sample:
"All you want me to do is see if he's cheating on you?" The Shifter looked at the woman sitting on the other side of the room with an air of utter disdain. He was chewing on a hangnail, and didn't seem to be paying much attention to what was going on around him. "You want me to- let's get this straight- you want me to use my considerable skills for the simple act of making sure your husband hasn't been sneaking around with other women?"
She looked around, fiddled with her skirt- a little uneasy all of a sudden.
He sighed. "Fine. But you'll pay me as much as I'd get in an actual spying job, and you won't hire anyone else in the case that he IS cheating."
The woman jumped at the sudden decision, and hastily nodded before hurrying out of the room.
Just how desperate was he? Auspice wasn't running some housewife-helping service. He killed people, he killed other Shifters, and now he was running around spying on cheating husbands for housewives. Who had referred her, anyways? Was it normal to mention an assassin in the list of people who could help you find out if your husband was cheating?
Oh well. Not his problem.
Without further delay, Auspice threw open the window and started the wonderful process of shifting. Wonderful- losing hundreds of pounds of weight like he was on some sort of extreme diet, free to fly off into the sunset...
Nobody noticed a pigeon in the city.
To the rest of them, Auspice didn't exist.
