Each body has its art...
No two fairies are quite the same, but it's safe to say there is no other anything like Xaviere.
Like all Fae, this elegant sky fairy is strikingly beautiful. Her delicate features are sharp and expressive, the crowning jewels of which are her clear grey and undeniably cold eyes shot with bright blue. She wears her hair long, her elemental sky magic creating constant movement through the silken strands which are an untarnished, pure white. But these are probably not the first things to be noticed.
Xaviere is petite, barely scraping five feet, but possesses an unquestionably sensuous body. She's curvaceous and toned with a slender waist and long, elegant limbs. Her skin is creamy and flawless, and she apparently knows perfectly well how alluring she can be because she shows off as much as that aforementioned body as she likes.
Her usual attire consists of a dark grey top and skirt which cover the important bits and very little else. Of course as both are transparent on close inspection, it's rather a moot point. The fabric is spider-silk, of the finest quality and deliberately left to resemble the pretty, if slightly creepy, gossamer strands of spider webs.
But none of this particularly distinguishes Xaviere from other fairies. Plenty of them are striking, too. No, what makes this chilling sky fairy different are her wings.
They were originally storm grey and silver but now all that remains are the bones which once supported the elegant structures. As punishment for violating the fundamental laws of the Fae, the Gods stripped her of her wings. Spider webs now stretch where once elegant membranes shimmered, and this has restored her power of flight - but not her honour.
Personality[/u]
It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our hearts...
The loss of her wings should be a clue.
Xaviere is all things a Fae should not be. She has no respect for the balance of Litharia, and even less for the life of others. She routinely kills without good reason. She is cold, violent and unpredictable. Mercy is not a word in her vocabulary.
That is not to say that she doesn't like others, of course, simply that for the right price she is happy to overlook their virtues and remove them permanently from the mortal coil. Call her greedy, contemptuous, cruel - she is not bothered by labels. She might stick a knife in your back anyway though, if you piss her off.
Despite an obvious lack of empathy she doesn't kill for herself. Assassination is a job, nothing more, and she chooses it simply because she can. As long as Xaviere is not on a job she is no danger to those who do not threaten her - in fact, she is more than a little partial to a more sensuous occupation of her time. So partial that, when she is on a job, her sexuality is routinely employed to get that job done. She is a highly enjoyable partner, though, so long as someone hasn't paid her to knock you off.
But for those not on her hit list, Xaviere won't necessarily come across as a cold-blooded murderer. She is witty, intelligent, sarcastic and has plenty of vices besides lust and violence. Rather charismatic when she wants to be, this sky fairy is missing the ethereal, whimsical quality of most Fae. Far too smart to lose herself in beauty and nature, Xaviere comes across as clever, confident and mischevious. She can be quite good company when she's not trying to kill anyone, although thus far she hasn't met anyone remarkable enough to melt the ice around her heart.
Which is to say, she hasn't met anyone who she wouldn't be willing to kill, for the right price.
History[/u]
Anger at lies lasts forever...
Understand that Litharia is in constant balance, as is all of life. Both life and death are sacred, so do not kill another for fear of wrath from those who protect us...
Xaviere could remember hearing those words, spoken over and over with reverence as she grew up surrounded by the laws and cultures of her kind. As a child, she accepted them unquestioningly. However as she became more self-aware, learnt her own nature and instincts, she realised that she was not like most Fae.
The Fae were idealistic. They revered their balance so much that they formed their most fundamental laws around it, seemingly forgetting in the process that, quite simply, life wasn't fair. Creatures died all the time for no reason other than bad luck and the evil of those who didn't respect the balance. It seemed that only her kind were noble enough to uphold that balance, while Humans slaughtered the whimsical creatures at will. Litharia was no longer a land where balance mattered, in her eyes.
Xaviere soon learned that she lacked the empathy of the majority of Fae. At barely sixty years of age she broke the rules. Word reached her of a feud between two Shifters, which she found and offered her services to. This became her first assassination, and she was paid in gold.
Two things happened.
The first was that she was permanently banished from the Mound. The second was rather more drastic. It seemed the old stories were true because Xaviere was painfully and almost fatally stripped of her wings; only the supportive bones were left behind. It took her more than a decade to recover from the injuries this left but once she did, she knew she had no reason not to make her role of assassin a permanent one. She liked pretty things, the gold and silver of humans, the elegant trinkets they crafted, and she could no longer depend on the forest for sustenance, so she adopted the job permanently.
One other quirk came to define her, too. During her recovery Xaviere lived exclusively in an interconnected web of caves that were part of the Daemon Tunnels. The only reason she survived the punishment of the Fae deities was through the help of a creature that had emerged from Dream Land - a large spider with whom she devised a basic method of communication and a close friendship; indeed, her only friendship. It cared for her for the many years she was too weak to even seek food or water, and when she finally recovered it spun her spider-silk for wings to restored her ability to fly. Xaviere therefore has an appreciation for spiders and they seem to know this, following her at will.
Indeed, spiders had always fascinated her so perhaps this was a predestined connection - her true name 'Arana' means spider.
She is most often found now frequenting the underworlds of Litharia; Spirit, the City of Thieves, the Boil, the Marshes, even the Human City, where she solicits her skills and lack of morals, and satisfies her lust in between jobs. Life has barely begun for this terrifyingly corrupt Fae...
