"Adorable? Who're you calling adorable?"
Appearance:
Cadrian is short. Really short. As in, 4'7". However, considering his species, that's not uncommon. He also has a cute, adorable appearance that just makes you want to cuddle him, also common with his species. His hair is medium length, reaching passed his chin in uneven strands, and is a mix between dirty blonde and light blonde. His eyes are amber and cat-like, with the long pupils like a cat. While most mammalian changelings have just little tufts on their ears, his ears are fully covered in fur that's a shade or two darker than his hair. The boy also sports a tail and his teeth and fingernails are longer and stronger than normal. Most notable about him is the dark blue collar he wears around his throat, something of a mystery. The palms and wrists of his hands are wrapped in linen bandages for the comfort when he's climbing. Cade usually wears a pair of dark pants with a long, red coat that has white fur for trim which is often left open; when it's cold, the boy will pull the coat closed and hold it there. He doesn't wear shoes.
PICTURE
"You know, I like you. You make me laugh."
Personality:
Cunning and deceptively friendly are some words that have been used to describe Cadrian. He's very outgoing and he'll talk to anyone around, but there's a chance that he'll con you out of something of yours or he'll snag it when you're not looking. He's a bit of kleptomaniac, actually. Strangely enough, most of the things he takes could be considered junk or basically worthless, though he does steal valuable things as well. Cadrian has a liking of anything shiny or colorful, and when Cade has a liking, he has the urge to take it. The boy seems to have a bit of ADD as well, easily distracted by the shiny and colorful things that he enjoys. He has a short temper, and he's not very patient, which is very unlike a fae. He's not exactly the most trusting person, which steams from one fact - Cade is not really considered all that trustworthy, given his nature to steal things. So what's to stop someone from doing the same thing that he would do to them? The 'benefit of the doubt' philosophy is not one of Cadrian's philosophies. Once befriended, the boy is generally pretty loyal. However, truly befriending him is difficult; Cade treats everyone as his friends, even if he only just met them, and so it's difficult to tell if he actually likes you or not. Cadrian loves a challenge and will almost always take a bet if it's thrown at him.
"Oh boy... Well, I never knew my dad..."
History:
Cadrian never knew his father. Honestly, he doesn't even know if he wants to know his father. And his mother was completely insane. The woman believed that Cadrian was a demon's spawn and couldn't possibly belong to her. However, she also believed that she couldn't just let such a spawn roam the world of Litharia, so she went to drastic measures. Fleeing from her home in the Mound, she went to live with Cade in the Tangle, where she kept the boy tethered by leash and collar, completely breaking the fae laws of not keeping slaves - for Cadrian could only call himself a slave or a prisoner.
When Cadrian was 12, he had had enough of his mother's psychotic tendencies, mostly do to the fact that she had decided that Cadrian was too dangerous to even live anymore and she was going to slaughter him. The boy had never left before, though he had figured out how to remove the leash from the collar long ago, because, despite her faults, Cade loved his mother.
Death, however, was not appealing to him.
So while his mother was off, Cade escaped from his bindings and fled from the Tangle and the insane woman. However, he could not remove the collar from around his throat, no matter how hard he tried to get rid of it - the mother had hired a crafter muse to make the collar, fitted to the boy's neck, and he couldn't find a way to remove it. Later on in life, Cade found out that only the muse that had made the collar could remove it, and he had no idea who that even was.
When Cadrian left his mother and the Tangle, he ended up in the City of Thieves, to the Drunken Bunny, and there he found himself immersed in a world of thievery and murder. Death had always made Cadrian queasy, and his fae nature made him want to avoid it (murder affected the balance), but thievery didn't seem so bad. It actually seemed fun, and the boy had always had the urges to take things that didn't belong to him. Like everyone else, he pays homage to the King of Thieves. Of course, considering where the City of Thieves is located, Cade usually stays in Spirit, since it's much safe for him than the City.
Thus Cadrian Jas Aldadiir became a thief.
Roleplay Sample:
Children's laughter filled his ears as he made his way down the streets of the City, and Cadrian couldn't help but grin as he watched the small children play in the streets. His glamour was in place, and he was safe from the humans who would kill him if they knew he was a fae. He was actually just leaving the City.
There wasn't anything here for him.
He had paid his tax to the King of Thieves, and the boy was ready to leave this place in search of some challenge. He loved challenges. They kept his day interesting.
With a stretch and a yawn, the boy came to the gates. He grinned at the guards and saluted to them. "Good day, sirs. It's a lovely day isn't it?"
Without much trouble, they opened the gates.
"Thanks much!" he called as he stepped through the gates, waving at the pair before he turned and headed down the path. Once he was out of sight, Cadrian dropped the glamour and shook himself out, as if he had been physically wearing some kind of costume.
Where to now?
The Mound?
Shifter Island?
The Cliffs of Heaven?
Ooh... was it is a bad idea to try to steal a dragon egg? Probably, but it was the exact kind of challenge that Cadrian craved. He rubbed his hands together in anticipation, grinning from ear to ear like the cat that ate the canary - which probably wasn't far from the truth.
Dragon egg it was!
