Above: The marketplace of Spirit
The Spirit of Litharia is a place of mystery. It is said to be the place where humans first settled in Litharia, on territory given to them by the fae. Naturally, the humans began building their city. This sickened the fae, but back then the creatures believed the humans could be taught better behavior. The two species began to trade. Humans would stay with the fae in the forest and the fae would stay with the humans in the city.
After the way, the uneasy truce continued. The humans officially abandoned Spirit and it became neutral ground. The fae had no use for such dead earth. Back then, the city was called Calceron. With time, the city began to fill up again. Humans and fae who did not believe in the war took up residence there. It was an unspoken rule was that if they could live together, why not allow all creatures to live there?
As the war escalated and the shifters starting being prosecuted, the population of Calceron grew until it became unofficially known as the Spirit of Litharia. Daemons, too, were drawn to Spirit because of its lawless nature. It is pure anarchy. There is no ruler, there are no laws. Life makes an honest attempt at moving forward. The humans still go to market, the fae still make their trades and teach their schools.
Not many people remember the original name of the Spirit city. Those who do don’t care much. Spirit has changed since then. Calceron, such a human name, no longer fits it. Spirit is not safe, not controlled, and in no way open-minded or accepting. It is simply free. All creatures may exist there and do as they please. The crime rate is high and the laughter is loud.
